I had the privilege of hiking the Grand Canyon down from the north rim and out via the south rim. This shot is from Bright Angel trail that we hiked on the way out. The trail is 9.9 miles long starting from Phantom Ranch where we spent two nights. The elevation gain to climb out is 4380 feet with an average grade of 10%. The climb out was definitely challenging and I had to "dig deep" to find the strength to make it out. This shot captures a typical switchback on the trail and reminds me of the physical and inner strength I possess.
After retiring from Corporate America in 2014, I have been remaking myself into an mosaic artist, fine art photographer, and traveler. I cherish our US National Parks (and all our public lands) and I have a goal to visit all 62 of them and I'm over halfway there having visited 33 (our dog has been to 22 parks!). I love to experience nature via hiking, biking, and especially from my portable hammock! I have learned over time that I can do things I never thought would be possible. Through determination and persistence, I've become a fine art photographer, ridden my bike across Iowa (RAGBRAI), hiked the Grand Canyon several times, and summited Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
